Scaling the practical education experience

In the past decade, a number of environments to support hands-on exercises for undergraduateand graduate-level networking courses have been developed. In this position paper, we consider the successful model of a graduate-level laboratory-based course, and how similarly compelling handson experiences may be brought to a wider audience at the undergraduate level. While there are significant challenges to adapting the advanced content to an undergraduate audience, there also exist great opportunities for compelling hands-on activities. We discuss the promising aspects and potential perils of this approach, suggesting some possible ways forward.
